The Russ Wernimont Designs CATEYE LED Lighting system has been designed and engineered to set new standards for lighting solutions for Harley Davidson motorcycles. Designed from the ground up we have taken a classic style light and cut fresh new lines into it. The light unit contains an all-in-one solution for running lights signals braking and license plate. CATEYE LED technology gives you brighter higher visibility. We have brought this over the top with our 3 color light system using red for running a hot red pulsating brake light amber turn signals and put them all in one light unit. Our goal was to develop a new look that is slick looking technology advanced and functional.

Dimensions are: 7” across x 5.5” tall. It is 7/8” thick on the top and 5/8” thick on the bottom.

Easy installation plugs into OEM Harley-Davidson 96-UP Softails 97-UP Big Twins 99-UP Sports and splices into most custom builds. Requires the use of mounting adapters sold separately.

RWD # 3217 LED Cat Eye Taillight (Part Number 2010-0010)
The RWD Combination Cat Eye Taillight License Plate system uses bright Red “Run/Brake” LED lights with “Embedded Arrowhead” Amber flashing turn signals and LED License plate lights all mounted in a Chrome License mount frame that includes plug-in wiring for H-D factory stock 96-up Softails, 97-up Rubber mounts, and 99-up Sportsters. This system can also be spliced-wired to most motorcycles using run/brake taillights and separate turn signals.

Installation
CAUTION: A qualified service technician should assist with this installation if you are unfamiliar with
motorcycle wiring.


“Plug-In” 96 -up H-D models (See Section “F” for splice-in applications)
A. Installation to Fender
1. Disconnect both battery terminals.
2. Remove any non-OEM wiring adapters, load equalizers, etc. from present taillight wiring under seat
so the remaining wiring is H-D “stock”.
3. Remove seat.
4. Remove OEM Taillight and rear fender wiring and prepare to install Mounting Adapter of choice.
5. Trim license plate and re-size holes as needed to test fit taillight hole pattern.
6. Carefully press taillight wire into wire exit channel in back of taillight housing and thread the wires
out through the wire exit hole of taillight mounting adapter.
7. With license plate in place, secure Taillight into mounting adapter with 2, ¼-20 bolts and washers.
Torque bolts to 10 Ft/Lb max.
8. Carefully wrap together open connector pins with masking tape and thread taped end of taillight wire
through fender wire clips or tubes (depending on type fender used) and route out of fender under seat
area near main H-D harness connector for rear fender.
9. Bolt Taillight/Adapter set in place on fender and make sure rear wheel will always clear taillight
wire.


B. Connecting Wires (If your bike does not have the large 8-pin matching connector, go to section “G”)
1.Insert empty 5-pin connector housing into mating 5-pin connector of H-D wire interface assembly
2.Remove masking tape on 5 taillight wire pins and loosely insert pins into empty housing so they match
same color and sequence of interface connector wires.
a.Pin 1, Blue, Main Taillight Run Power (Powers ALL functions of Taillight operation).
b.Pin 2, Red, Brake signal.
c.Pin 3, (MIDDLE PIN) BLACK GROUND WIRE.
d.Pin 4, Violet, Left Turn Signal
e.Pin 5, Brown, Right Turn Signal
3.Starting with blue pin, carefully reinsert each pin so locking tab of pin is oriented to “snap” into pin
lock of empty connector in the order of 2. a – e. color code.
4. Plug large white 8-Pin interface assembly connector into mating OEM connector from main harness
5. Plug small 5-pin connector from taillight into matching interface assembly connector.


C. Load Equalizer and Turn Signals;
1.Load Equalizer;
a.If taillight is used with no additional rear turn signals, connect 3-pin connector from load
equalizer into matching interface assembly connector to “balance” turn signal flasher load.
b.If OEM or other external turn signals are used, test turn signal flashing function without load
equalizer and only connect load equalizer if required to make turn signals flash correctly.

2.Turn Signals; Two turn signal extensions are provided to connect turn signals as desired.
a.If OEM or other side-mounted turn signals are used, splice the Violet extension wire to the
positive turn signal lead and splice the Black extension wire to the negative turn signal lead.
b.Connect the small 2-pin turn signal extensions to matching interface assembly connectors.
NOTE, Reverse connections as needed to make right and left flash correctly.
Use Dielectric grease on all connector ends at final installation of all details.


D. Extra Power connector; An extra 2-pin accessory circuit power connector is included in the interface
connector assembly for fender tip lights or other lighting accessories requiring “run” power.


E. Reconnect Battery and replace Seat


F. Test; All taillight and optionally wired turn signals should operate with run, brake, and turn controls. If
the battery is low the taillight functions could malfunction until the engine is running.


G. Connecting Wires when your bike does not have the large 8-pin matching connector
1.Remove masking tape on 5 taillight wire pins.
2.Cut the pins off, and splice each wire according to the following color codes to the correct main
harness wires for the taillight.
a.Blue, Main Taillight “Run” Power (Powers ALL functions of Taillight operation).
b.Red, Brake signal.
c.BLACK GROUND WIRE.
d.Violet, Left Turn Signal
e.Brown, Right Turn Signal

 For 2007 bikes: Harley-Davidson has moved the ground wire over on 2007 models. To adapt for this on our side of the plug connect the 2 black ground wires. Please see the pictures below.

Orders on any special ordered items cannot be canceled. Cancellation of other orders must be received prior to shipment.
 Back Orders:
Not all products are available for immediate shipping. If you require expeditied shipping, please state this in the Special Instruction section of your order form. Items temporarily out of stock will be shipped automatically when available unless you request NO BACK ORDERS.
 Warranty:
American Side Road Cycles sale of Russ Wernimont Design's products is without warranty, expressed or implied. American Side Road Cycles will warrant a Russ Wernimont Designs manufactured defect for one year. American Side Road Cycles shall be liable only for the value of the item warranted. American Side Road Cycles and Russ Wernimont Designs is not responsible for failure of any product that results from normal wear and tear, misuse, modification or improper installation. American Side Road Cycles and Russ Wernimont Designs reserves the right to inspect all returned items for conformance to our stated warranty policy.
Chrome plating is a delicate cosmetic finish and is not designed for long lasting use in billet aluminum or steel parts. Chrome Platers will only warranty their chrome plating until it is installed on a motorcycle or other vehicle. NO CHROME WARRANTY AFTER INSTALLATION! You should expect tiny blemishes or scratches on chrome. Chrome Platers can only strive for perfection. Once a week or after every ride, use a good chrome cleaner to remove road dirt and other contaminants to help protect your chrome. The following is a list of chemicals that will damage your chrome plated part: Battery acid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, dust residue from brake pads and power steering fluid.

RETURN POLICY Read Completely Prior to Opening / Installing Part(s).
Warranty claims, product returns, and / or incorrect orders or shipments must be addressed as follows:
 PACKAGE DAMAGE / LOSS:
Parts lost or damaged in shipment are not the responsibility of American Side Road Cycles or Russ Wernimont Designs. If your part(s) are damaged or lost during shipment, you must contact the delivery carrier and file a claim within 24 hours. For packages damaged during shipment, save the box and packaging materials until the package can be inspected by the carrier.
 DAMAGE OR DISCREPANCY CLAIMS:
American Side Road Cycles must be notified WITHIN 72 HOURS OF RECEIPT OF SHIPMENT, AND PRIOR TO INSTALLATION, of any and all damages / discrepancies to your shipment. Please note: Claims for damage outlined below WILL NOT BE VALID once the part has been installed. Inspect each part thoroughly for dents, chips, scratches, gouges, flaws, etc. and report any such damage to American Side Road Cycles by e-mail within 72 hours of receipt.
 WARRANTY CLAIM RETURNS:
Return requests for dents, scratches, flaws, etc. will not be allowed after 72 hours of receipt or if an item has been installed. Returns will not be accepted without pre-authorization from American Side Road Cycles. You must contact American Side Road Cycles for a Return Materials Authorization Number (RMA). The RMA must be clearly marked on the outside of the package. Packages without the RMA on the outside of the package will be refused. A RMA does not indicate warranty approval. Approval / disapproval will be determined after our physical inspection of the returned part(s). Parts must be re-packaged carefully in our boxes with our packaging to prevent damage. The Customer is responsible for merchandise damaged in shipping due to inadequate packaging. Shipment will not be accepted freight collect. American Side Road Cycles is not responsible for freight charge on returns. Non-warranty claims will be subject to exchange only.
 NON-WARRANTY RETURNS:
Request to return product must be arranged within 15 days of the invoice date and are subject to a 20% re-stocking fee and all freight charges. Returned products must be in absolutely new and unused condition. Installed parts are not returnable, except for warranty issues as stated above. Returns will not be accepted without pre-authorization from American Side Road Cycles. Contact American Side Road Cycles for a Return Materials Authorization Number (RMA) and clearly mark the number on the outside of the package. Packages without a RMA will be refused. Parts must be re-packaged carefully in our boxes with our packaging to prevent damage. The Customer is responsible for merchandise damaged in shipping due to inadequate packaging. Shipments will not be accepted freight collect. American Side Road Cycles is not responsible for freight charges in returns. Non-warranty claims will be subject to exchange only.
